Who are we?? We are about 40 parishioners who volunteer their time to
bring Communion to those who are not able to attend regular church
services due to age or infirmity. About 20 of these people belong to
teams that go once each week into one of the nine Nursing Home/Assisted
Living facilities that our church services, and also Hospice. The other
20 are assigned as needed to go to private homes to bring Communion for a
time while the person is recuperating from illness or surgery.
How?? The answer to how this happens, is that you or a family member
calls the Parish Office to alert us that you will be in the hospital, or
will need the service of a Eucharistic Minister to bring Communion to you
at home. We need a working phone number. If you have switched to cell
service, or have a new phone number, hopefully you will notify the Church
office of this, because it is impossible to contact you to make
arrangements without a current phone number. Also, if you have been seen
in the hospital by Mimi, we would love to follow up and call once you are
home to see if you need a Eucharistic Minister to come with Communion.
But if you are not registered with the Parish, then again, we have no
phone number for you.
Why do we do this? Because the Eucharist is the center of our Faith, and
we want everyone to be able to have the opportunity to receive the Lord
at least once a week, especially when they are sick. Please help us to
serve you by keeping your information current. These volunteers are
great, and just waiting to help you. Anyone interested in serving their
Faith Community this way needs a little training. Please call Mary Jo
Dranttel if you are interested at 343-0522.
