|
Fr. Don Henry was ordained in 1971 for the Diocese of Allentown, PA. He served as an Associate Pastor at St. Ambrose in Schuylkill Haven, St. Joseph's in Orefield and in 1980 was named Pastor at St. Joseph's in Summit Hill. He went on to become Pastor of St. John the Baptist in Pottsville and St. Anthony of Padua in Easton. In September 1994 he left the Pennsylvania area to become Associate Pastor of St. John the Evangelist in Naples, Florida, where he served from October 1994 until February 2001 when he became Pastor of St. Thomas More. Fr. Henry grew up in the Reading, Pennsylvania, area. After attending Central Catholic High School and nine years at St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia he was ordained March 27, 1971. In June 1998, he was Incardinated for the Diocese of Venice. Fr. Henry is the son of Herbert and Gladys Henry who still live in Reading. He has two sisters: Rosemary Henry Zoumas who lives in State College, PA with her family and his younger sister, Jan Henry McGowan, who lives in Owigsberg, PA with her family. Among Fr. Henry's interests are travel, golf, skiing and a good glass of dry wine. As Father Henry looks back over thirty years of priesthood, he feels he has been enriched by being in so many places and doing ministry to so many different people. What he enjoys most in his priesthood is offering Mass and most especially preaching. Fr. Henry will be happy to share more about his life in ministry as he gets to personally know the parish family here at St. Thomas More.
