Bronze Statue of Mother and Child
The bronze and aluminum cross in front of the window embraces the entering community
with it's elongated arms and invites them into the mystery of Jesus' death and
resurrection. In addition to all this symbolism, the Garden is also and appropriately, the
final resting place for the cremains of deceased parishioners.
The Bronze sculpture of the Blessed Mother and Child was commissioned by the parish and
created by Mr. Frederick Schrady of Connecticut. Mr.Schrady has major works in St.
Patrick's Cathedral, New York, in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in the Vatican Gardens
and in the United Nations building, New York.
Mary is portrayed happily in her scriptural role, presenting Jesus to the world in a
courageous, yet playful mood. The garden may be visited for quiet moments of prayer and
meditation at any time.
