The Pipe Organ

The great musical tradition of the Catholic Church is very well appreciated and celebrated at St. Thomas More. The pipe organ was designed for the church by the Gress-Miles Organ Company of Princeton, New Jersey. It has three manuals, thirty-nine ranks, 2,146 pipes, and forty-eight stops. In addition to congregational accompaniment, it is capable of performing the concert music of any period.

On the west wall of the vestibule opposite the entrance to the church are some art panels by local artist, Richard Anuszkiewicz. The nine panels are so arranged, starting with the red on the lower right side and gradually moving diagonally to the gold on the upper left to suggest the transition of Jesus through His Passion to the glory of His Resurrection. Also in the vestibule is an etched window depicting St. Thomas More and his family. Originally sketched by the German artist, Hans Holbein the Younger in 1526 or 1528, this etched reproduction on scene is the work of Sarasota artist Virginia Hoffman. The original is in the Museum at Basel, Switzerland.
