A LETTER FROM FATHER HENRY…

Father Don Henry and a parishioner share stories
about their love for St. Thomas More parish.

Dear Parish Family,

For well over a year our Building Committee, Parish Council, and Finance Council have been studying our parish’s needs. Two realities have emerged, 1) our facilities are aging and need updating, and 2) our sanctuary needs expanding. As a result of the extensive study by these committees and councils, we invited our parish family via a feasibility study conducted several months ago to help us determine the level of support the parish would give to addressing these needs. Overwhelmingly, the parish said yes, they would support our efforts to address these needs.

This has given birth to a vision – a big, beautiful vision – one that I believe, and many lay leaders believe, has been set before us by the Holy Spirit. The vision is to renovate, update and expand our church.

We are being challenged and inspired by this vision and to make this vision a reality we are launching into a major capital campaign called, Our Spirit Soars. Over the next several weeks, specific details of the vision will be shared with each of you in a variety of ways. Through direct involvement, every member of our parish will be given the opportunity to grasp the vision and get involved. We need every household and every parishioner to enthusiastically embrace this effort.

I know you will respond in the tradition of the people of St. Thomas More when you are asked to support our campaign efforts. I encourage you to begin praying about it. Ask God to give you guidance on how and where you can help. If you will only ask, I promise you will receive an answer that will have a positive influence on others and be personally rewarding as well. St. Thomas More needs your help!

Our parish has risen to successfully meet every challenge placed before it by the Holy Spirit. In order to continue to fulfill the Lord’s mission and ministry to our parishioners and to our community, we must renovate and expand.  Truly, we enjoy the fruits of those who have gone before us. I am confident we will build on their tradition and our spirit at St. Thomas More will continue to soar for many years to come.

Peace and love,

Pastor Don Henry
